 Our 2015 #PassionFavs!

Fav Location to Shoot an Audition Video in NYC: Actors Connection

We love when our students shoot final draft videos at Actors Connection (you can see a sample of their work featured at the end of our SUCCESS STORY video)! Known primarily for their industry seminars, classes, and showcases, AC is a hidden gem for professional audition taping. They really understand how a quality camera, lighting, and the correct framing can help you shine in an audition tape. They will send your audition video clip the same day via email or upload it directly to Vimeo or YouTube. If you are in the NYC metro area, AC is a #NoBrainer for your final draft audition video needs.

They even have a rush service option for same day needs.

Fav Place to Take a Drama Club on a Field Trip: Broadway Workshop

Not only does Broadway Workshop produce some of the best student productions in NYC (seriously, the talent is unreal!), but they will create a customized 60- or 90-minute group workshop for your drama club taught by a Broadway performer who is in the show that you are seeing on your trip! Fun, friendly, inspirational, and educational. A one-of-a-kind service and the perfect stop for every Broadway musical theatre-obsessed drama club.

Fav Theatre-related App: TodayTix

TodayTix is a new app that is revolutionizing the way that you can buy Broadway and Off Broadway theatre tickets at discount prices. I mean, you can get a ticket to see Matthew Morrison in Finding Neverland at a 33% discount? We’re buying our tickets today! Select shows even offer same day lottery tickets for as low as $10 (and sometimes even free). It is a must-have app for every theatre lover.

Fav High School YouTuber: Rachel of "Actingislitmylife"

We love Rachel’s "Actingislitmylife" YouTube channel! She has a serious passion for acting and her videos feature some incredibly practical advice on topics ranging from how to create a resume to self-tape auditions to how to overcome audition nerves. One of our favorites was the behind-the scenes-look at her high school’s production of The Addams Family.  She makes us seriously nostalgic for our high school drama club days. We love following her high school journey and can’t wait to see what amazing things she accomplishes!

Fav Website to Self-Submit for Auditions: Actors Access

Actors Access is a great resource for performers of all ages, training backgrounds, and interests from various locations across the country. Whether you are a younger actor looking to get some film experience working on a student film or an experienced musical theatre performer looking for professional work at a regional theatre, Actors Access' daily audition posts really do have something for everyone.

Fun tip: If you add #cmail to a tweet on Twitter (it's what they call an email you receive from casting on their site), then they will often retweet your post to their 84.3K followers!

Fav NYC Interviewer: Call Me Adam

We absolutely adore Adam’s positive energy and down-to-earth vibe. It’s no wonder his interviews elicit such honest, insightful responses. We love that he interviews artists and performers from a wide range of backgrounds and passions and reviews concerts and productions that we don’t always get to see featured in mainstream media.  We also have recently become obsessed with the interviews on his YouTube channel. Special thanks to Bobby Cronin for writing the catchy “It’s Adam” theme song that is currently stuck in our heads.

Fav Website to Research College Programs: PlaybillEdu

Whether you are planning on applying to a BA or BFA college to pursue your #passion for theatre, music, or dance, PlaybillEDU is our favorite stop to help develop a solid college list. They have compiled an incredible amount of information for thousands of schools through direct contact with each program. They also update the college profiles regularly, so that you have the latest up-to-date info to help you make the most informed decisions. Some features include bookmarking schools, saving searches, and creating a detailed comparison of schools that you are interested in. Did we mention the best feature of all? It’s completely free!

Fav Place to Buy Plays in NYC: The Drama Bookshop

The Drama Bookshop is seriously one of our favorite spots in the Times Square area. With thousands of plays and collections of new plays from sources like the Humana Festival of New American Plays, this is a place you must visit on your trip to NYC to find your new favorite monologue. They are now open 7 days a week, so it’s very easy to make a weekend stop.

Tip: Their expert staff is super friendly and always ready to suggest a new monologue.

Fav Place to Design Your New Website: Wix.com

Looking to make a beautiful website to showcase your talent, host your blog, or market your newly created YouTube channel? We are obsessed with Wix.com. Both our PYPNYC website and our own personal professional websites were created using the Wix.com platform, so we consider ourselves tried and true Wix disciples. They have so many free templates to get you started and inspired. You literally can update your site at any time. Their blog and YouTube channel also offer super helpful tips to create a stunning website. If you’re technologically challenged, the Wix Arena is a great place to hire a freelance designer.

Tip: Make sure to save your work often, so that you don’t lose the awesome new additions you’re making to your website.
