College Workshops will include a combination of the following topics: 

 

  • Why a website is an important marketing tool for performers and what every performer must have on a website

  • Detailed overview of how to use the Wix.com editor

  • Website design and marketing trends to create a professional, branded website

  • Hands-on workshop creating a Wix.com performer website with a Wix.com pro

  • How to create a demo reel and what should be on it

  • Review of demo reel material

  • Interactive mock self-tape audition recording session to troubleshoot common mistakes 

ABOUT

Polish Your Passion is an online-based performance training company that helps prepare high school students across the country who are auditioning for college as well as college students who are transitioning into their professional careers. In the past, our high school students have been accepted to BFA programs including Carnegie Mellon University, The Juilliard School, Ithaca College, and NYU Tisch and BA programs including Northwestern University, Oberlin College, and UCLA. Our college students have held apprenticeships at regional theatres including the Berkshire Theatre Group and Powerhouse Theatre and recent college grads have worked regionally at theatres including Paper Mill Playhouse, Goodspeed Opera House, and Pioneer Theatre Company, on tour including Jersey Boys, Rock of Ages, and Hair, and on film/tv including Law & Order: SVU, Boardwalk Empire, Vynyl, and The Family Fang.

MEET CAROLINE SELIA

Caroline Selia (Co-founder & Singing Coach) is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she also completed her B.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University. She completed her M.M. degree at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. As a singing coach, Ms. Selia has  taught at The Studio of Performing Arts in New Canaan, 74th St. Magic NYC, KCMO Theatre Magic, and most recently, the Statement Arts program, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to bringing the creative visual and performing arts to underserved/low-income students. She has performed with American Idol finalist and B'way veteran Diana DeGarmo at Birdland Jazz Club. Her most recent musical theatre credits include: Claire in Class: a New Musical  by Karl Michael Johnson & Alex Beech and Elsa in A Bump in the Road by Michael von der Nahmer & Emily Roller directed by Tony nominee Jerry Dixon & Nick Corely. She also has sung extensively throughout Europe, winning awards for her performance in Graz, Austria & sings the National Anthem for the NY Knicks. Her television & film credits include: Redneck Rehab ep. 104 (Country Music Television), Dog Park (Rowman Productions), and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC). She also has featured vocals on the dance/electronica song "Waiting for Me" by DJ Eddie Essa and is continuing to work on musical collaborations.

MEET TOM MORIN

Tom Morin (Co-founder & Acting Coach) is originally from Portsmouth, New Hampshire and is a NYC-based actor and acting teacher. He holds a B.A. in Theatre and Political Science from the College of the Holy Cross and a M.F.A. in Acting from Ohio University. As an acting instructor, he has taught at the Studio for Performing Arts in New Canaan, CT, St. Paul’s School, Ohio University, and the West Side YMCA in NYC. As an actor, his Off Broadway/NYC credits include Measure for Measure at New York Classical Theatre, The Rivals at the Pearl Theatre Company, A Christmas Carol at Titan Theatre Company, and That Lady from Maxim's at the Robert Moss Theatre (2013 NYMF selection; Nominee for 7 2013 NY Innovative Awards and winner of Outstanding Production of a Musical). His regional professional credits include The Cripple of Inishmaan, The Liar (Centenary Stage Company); Twelfth Night, Macbeth (Great River Shakespeare Festival); The Winter’s Tale, Marriage of Figaro (Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey); Dana Lynn Formby’s The Small of Her Back (Victory Gardens Theater, workshop); Guys and Dolls, Scapino, The Front Page, Merry Wives of Windsor (Monomoy Theatre); Anything Goes! (Best Supporting Actor in a Musical nominee), Our Town (Hackmatack Playhouse). He also interned at Christine Wyse Casting in Boston, MA and worked two seasons with Commonwealth Shakespeare Company.

MEET SHIRA GALLER

Shira is the Community Outreach Manager for Wix.com. She organizes and teaches Wix workshops weekly in the Wix Lounge and elsewhere. In addition to teaching Wix workshops, she partners with Universities and organizations to help student communities build their online presence to prepare for post-graduate life. She has also recently started a student internship program at Wix.com for students interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the company’s community building projects. Shira helps manage the Wix Lounge’s co-working community, part of which involves organizing workshops to benefit and grow the co-workers’ individual businesses. Finally, she plans events and meet-ups for Wix users throughout the country.
