Best Featured Actor in a Play

Meet Michael Aronov

Hometown: Miami, Florida

Training: SMU

Big Break: An actor who has performed regionally and around the world, his Off Broadway solo show “Manigma” (2010) really piqued the interest of many in NYC and he made his Broadway debut in “Golden Boy” in 2012. You also may recognize him from “The Americans,” “Madam Secretary,” or “Gun Hill.”

Fun Fact: Although he was a self-proclaimed “bad boy” growing up in Miami, he still took a full course-load of AP classes and maintained a 4.0 average.

Meet Danny DeVito

The Price

Hometown: Ashbury Park, New Jersey

Training: American Academy of Dramatic Arts

Big Break: An actor and comedian, he got his big break on television in his Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning performance in “Taxi” (1978-1983). Some film highlights include “Terms of Endearment” (1983), “Twins” (1988), “Batman Returns” (1992), “Junior” (1994), “Matilda” (1996), and “The Rainmaker” (1997). This is his Broadway debut.

Fun Fact: This may come as a surprise, but before he became an actor, Danny was a hairdresser and stylist. We’re glad his acting career worked out.

Meet Nathan Lane

The Front Page

Hometown: Jersey City, New Jersey

Big Break: A veteran of both Broadway and screen, Nathan made his Broadway debut in "Present Laughter" (1982) followed by many appearances on Broadway in plays and musicals like "Guys and Dolls" (1992; 1st Tony nomination), "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" (1996; 1st Tony win), "The Producers" (2001; 2nd Tony win), and "The Addams Family" (2010). His memorable screen credits include the voice of Timon in "The Lion King" and "The Birdcage."

Fun Fact: His original name was Joseph Lane, but when he registered for Actors' Equity, he discovered that that name was already taken. He changed his first name to Nathan after Nathan Detroit in "Guys and Dolls" (a role that would lead to his 1st Tony nomination).

Meet Richard Thomas

The Little Foxes

Hometown: NYC

Big Break: A film/tv/stage actor for most of his childhood and adult life, he gained international attention for his work as John “John-Boy” Walton, Jr. in "The Waltons" in the 1970s. He was last seen on Broadway in David Mamet's "Race" (2009).

Fun Fact: He made his Broadway debut in 1958 at the age of 7!

Meet John Douglas Thompson

Big Break: Hailed by the New York Times as one of the best classical actors working in NYC, John made his Broadway in “Julius Caesar” in 2005 opposite Denzel Washington. In 2009, he had a breakout year in NYC, when he played the title role in “Othello” and “Emperor Jones.”

Fun Fact: A former account executive at a Fortune 500 company in his 20s, he planned a date to see a production of “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” at Yale Rep. John’s date stood him up, but he decided to still go by himself. The play inspired him to become an actor.
